‘수광1’은 최고품질 벼 품종인 ‘수광’의 우수한 밥맛과 품질 특성을 유지하면서 성숙기 탈립성과 벼흰잎마름병 저항성을 개선하여 기후적응성과 재배안정성을 향상시키기 위해 개발된 중만생 벼 품종이다. 2013/2014년 동계에 ‘수광’을 모본으로 하고 내탈립성이며 벼흰잎마름병 K3a 균계에 저항성인 ‘HR29177-AC70-1’을 부본으로 교배하였으며, 계통 선발과 생산력 검정시험을 거쳐 ‘전주662호’를 육성하였다. 이후 2021년부터 2023년까지 실시한 지역적응성 검정시험에서 우수성이 확인되어 ‘수광1’으로 명명되었다. ‘수광1’의 평균 출수기는 8월 12일인 중만생종으로, 백미수량은 566 kg/10a로 ‘남평’과 유사하였다. ‘수광1’은 성숙기 내탈립성이 향상되었으며, 벼흰잎마름병 K1, K2, K3 및 K3a 균계에 모두 저항성을 나타냈다. 분자표지 분석 결과 Xa3와 xa5 두 개의 벼흰잎마름병 저항성 유전자를 보유하였으며, 키다리병 저항성 유전자 qFfR1과 수발아 관련 대립유전자 qltg3-1을 보유하는 것으로 확인되었다. 쌀 외관품질과 식미가 우수하고 완전미 도정수율이 높았으며, Target capture sequencing SNP-genotyping platform을 이용한 분석에서 모본인 ‘수광’과 93.6%의 유전적 유사도를 나타냈다. 또한 현장실증 결과 ‘수광’에 비해 탈립성과 벼흰잎마름병 저항성이 개선되었으며, 높은 완전미 도정수율과 우수한 밥맛으로 생산자와 수요자로부터 높은 평가를 받아 2025년 최고품질 벼 품종으로 선정되었다. ‘수광1’은 ‘수광’의 우수한 품질과 브랜드 가치를 유지하면서 재배안정성을 향상시킨 기후적응형 최고품질 벼 품종으로 영⋅호남 평야지와 서남부 및 남부 해안지에 적응한다.
Sukwang1 is a premium-quality, mid-late maturing cultivar of japonica rice, which was developed to improve resistance to shattering and bacterial blight while maintaining the relatively high grain and eating quality of Sukwang. Derived from a cross between Sukwang and HR29177-AC70-1, the promising line Jeonju662 was evaluated through local adaptability tests (2021-2023) before release. Its average heading date was August 12, with a milled rice yield of 5.66 MT/ha. Sukwang1 exhibited improved resistance to shattering and all four Korean races (K1-K3a) of bacterial blight. Molecular marker analysis revealed the presence of Xa3 and Xa5 for bacterial blight resistance, qFfR1 for bakanae disease resistance, and a loss-of-function allele of qltg3-1 for reduced preharvest sprouting. Target capture sequencing analysis of single-nucleotide polymorphisms revealed 93.6% genetic similarity to Sukwang, indicating that most of the parental background was retained while key agronomic traits were improved. Featuring excellent grain appearance, high head-rice milling recovery, and relatively high taste, Sukwang1 has been designated as a Premium-Quality Rice cultivar by the RDA in 2025, and is recommended for the Honam and Yeongnam plains and southern coastal regions of Republic of Korea (registration number: 10667).
