  • A rice variety ‘Daebo’ is a japonica rice (Oryza sativa L.) with good eating quality, lodging tolerance, and resistance to rice stripe virus (RSV) and blight bacterial disease (BB). It is developed by the rice breeding team of Yeongdeog Substation, National Institute Crop Science, RDA in 2011. This variety derived from a cross between ‘YR21247-68-1’ with good plant type and ‘Yeongdeog35’ with good eating quality conducted in 2002 summer season. A promising line, YR23940-B-17-1-2, selected by bulk and pedigree breeding method was designated as the name of ‘Yeongdeog51’ in 2008. After the local adaptability test was carried out at seven locations from 2009 to 2011, ‘Yeongdeog51’ was released as the name of ‘Daebo’ in 2011. ‘Daebo’ is short culm length as 63 cm and medium-growth duration. This variety is resistant to races, K1, K2, and K3 of bacterial blight and stripe virus and moderately resistant to leaf blast disease resistance. ‘Daebo’ has translucent and clear milled rice kernel without white core and belly rice, and good eating quality as a result of panel test. The yield potential of ‘Daebo’ in milled rice is about 5.93 MT/ha at ordinary fertilizer level of local adaptability test. This cultivar would be adaptable to middle plain, south plain, mid-west costal area, and south mid-mountainous area.

최근의 쌀 품종 개발의 목표는 수량성 증대는 물론이고 밥 맛이 좋은 고품질의 벼 품종 개발이 소비자로부터 요구되고 있으며, 또한 동해안 지역은 한랭과습풍과 태백산맥을 넘어오 는 고온건조풍으로 인한 각종 기상재해의 피해를 비롯한 바 이러스 등 병해 발생이 잦은 지역으로 각종 병해충에 강하고 거센 바람에도 쓰러지지 않고 잘 견디는 복합 내재해 품종의 개발이 요구되는 지역이다(Kim et al. 2009). 국립식량과학원 영덕출장소에서는 이러한 지역에 적응하는 다수성이며 내병 성을 갖춘 최고품질 안전 다수성 벼 품종 육성에 주력하여 왔 으며 2011년 쌀 모양이 둥근 단원형이면서 밥맛이 뛰어나고 내도복성이며 줄무늬잎마름병과 흰잎마름병 K1, K2, K3에 저 항성이 있는 “대보”를 육성하여 이에 대한 육성경위와 주요 특성을 보고하고자 한다(농촌진흥청, 2009-2011).
‘대보’는 국립식량과학원 영덕출장소에서 2002년 하계에 밥맛이 뛰어나면서 재배 안정성이 높은 벼 품종을 육성할 목 적으로 우량 선발 계통인 “YR21247-68-1”를 모본하고 영덕 출장소 육성계통인 밥맛이 우수한 ‘영덕35호’를 부본으로 인 공교배를 실시하고, 2002/2003년 동계에 국립식량과학원 기능 성작물부 온실에서 26개체의 F1 식물체를 양성하여 YR23940 의 교배번호를 부여하였다. 2003년 하계포장에 F2 집단 양성 개체선발하여 2004년 하계에 F3세대를 집단양성하고 57계통 을 선발 후 계통육종법 으로 F4, F5, F6, F7세대를 전개하면서 단간이고 내도복성이면서 미질 품위가 양호하며 내병성을 갖 춘 계통을 선발하여 2007년 생산력검정예비시험, 2008년 생 산력검정본시험을 실시한 후 쌀 품위가 좋으면서 밥맛이 우 수하고 재배 안정성이 높은 YR23940-B-17-1-2 을 선발하여 ‘영덕51호’로 명명하였다(영남농업연구소, 2004-2007) (작물 과학원, 2008-2010). 2009년~2011년까지 3년간 지역적응시 험을 실시한 결과 중생종이면서 쌀알이 아주 둥근 단원형이 면서 품위가 좋고 밥맛이 뛰어나며 내병성과 내도복성을 갖 춘 것으로 평가되어 2011년 12월 농작물 직무육성 신품종 선 정위원회에서 국가품종목록으로 등재 할 것을 결정하고 ‘대보’ 로 명명하여 적응지역인 동남부 해안지, 중부 및 남부 평야, 남 부중산간지에 보급하게 되었다(농촌진흥청, 2009-2011).
출수기
‘대보’의 출수기는 중부평야지, 남부중산간지, 동남부 해안 지 및 영남평야지 보통기 보비재배에서 8월 14일로 ‘화성벼’ 보다 1일 늦고, 이모작과 만식재배에서는 4일 늦은 중생종이 다(Table 1). (Fig. 1).

잎과 줄기
‘대보’의 잎은 Table 2에서 보는 바와 같이 녹색이며 길이 와 너비는 중정도이며 직립형이다. 줄기는 ‘화성벼’와 보다 굵으며 강도는 중강이고 간장은 63 cm로 ‘화성벼’보다 16 cm짧은 단간 품종이다.

‘대보’의 이삭 길이는 21 cm로 ‘화성벼’와 같으며 착립밀 도는 보통이고 이삭추출은 양호한 편이다. 벼알은 까락이 없 거나 적으며 탈립은 잘 안되는 편이고 영색은 황백색이고 숙 색은 양호하다(Table 3).

수량구성요소
‘대보’의 주당수수는 ‘화성벼’보다 1개 많고 수당립수는 17 개 많으며, 등숙비율은 ‘화성벼’와 비슷한 수준이며, 현미 천 립중은 ‘화성벼’보다 0.6 g 더 무거운 중립종이다(Table 4).

품질특성
‘대보’의 입형은 현미 장폭비가 1.67로 매우 둥근 단원형이 며 심복백(WC/WB)은 거의 없고, 투명도는 1은 아주 투명하 고 9는 투명하지 못하나 ‘화성벼’와 같이 1로서 맑고 투명하 며, 도정율은 ‘화성벼’와 비슷하고 현백율, 백미완전미율은 높 다(Table 5). 아밀로스함량과 단백질함량은 ‘화성벼’보다 낮 고, 특히 단백질함량은 5.5%로 매우 낮으며 밥맛은 ‘화성벼’ 보다 우수하다(Table 6).

생리장해 견딜성
‘대보’는 못자리일수 50일묘 이앙시에 불시출수가 되지 않 았으며 위조에는 강한 편이고 성숙기의 엽노화가 느린 편이 다. 내냉성 검정 결과 출수지연, 임실율은 ‘화성벼’와 비슷하 여 내냉성이 강하며, 내풍성 검정의 저항성도 ‘화성벼’와 비슷 한 반응을 보였으며, 수발아는 ‘화성벼’보다 강하다(Table 7).

내도복성
‘대보’는 벼키와 3절간장이 짧아 중심고는 ‘화성벼’보다 낮 고, ‘화성벼’에 비해 도복지수(모멘트/좌절중)가 낮아 이앙재 배시의 포장도복은 되지 않았다(Table 8).

병해충 저항성
‘09~11’년 전국 14개소에서 실시한 잎도열병 밭못자리 검정에서 ‘화성벼’에 비해 더 강한 반응을 보였고, 이삭도열 병 포장검정에서는 ‘화성벼’에 비해 강한 편이었다(Table 9). 도열병 내구저항성 검정에서 친화성 균주수는 14개로 ‘화성 벼’ 보다 적었다(Table 10). ‘대보’는 줄무늬잎마름병과 흰잎 마름병(K1~K3)에 저항성이나(Table 11) 벼멸구와 애멸구에 는 저항성이 없었다(Table 12).

생산력검정시험
‘대보’는 ‘07~’08년 보통기 보비재배에서 평균 쌀수량이 5.92 MT/ha으로 ‘화성벼’보다 15% 증수하였다(Table 13).

지역적응시험
‘대보’의 수량성은 ‘09~’11년 3개년간 실시한 지역적응시 험 보통기 보비재배 7개소에서 5.93 MT/ha로 ‘화성벼’보다 11% 증수되었으며, 이모작재배에서는 5.23 MT/ha로 ‘화성 벼’ 대비 14%, 만식재배에서는 4.63 MT/ha로 ‘화성벼’대비 21% 증수하여 이모작 및 만식적응성 높았다(Table 14, 15).

재배상의 유의점
‘대보’는 동해안 냉조풍지, 중부 및 남부평야지, 남부 중산 간지에 적응하는 중생종 품종이다. 단간이지만 질소질 비료 과다시 미질저하, 병해충 발생 및 도복이 우려되므로 적정균 형 시비하여야 하며, 묘대기와 이앙시에 애멸구와 끝동매미충 방제를 철저히 하여 오갈병과 검은줄오갈병 발생을 미리 예 방하여야 하고 흰잎마름병 K3a에는 약하므로 적기에 기본방 제를 실시하고 이모작 및 만식재배 적응성은 있지만 냉수용 출답이나 극만식재배는 피하는 것이 좋다.

출수기는 보통기 재배에서 평균 8월 14일로 ‘화성벼’보다 1일 늦은 중생종 품종이다. 직립 초형이고 탈립은 잘되지 않 고 이삭추출은 양호 하고 까락이 거의 없다. 수당립수는 ‘화 성벼’보다 많으며 현미천립중도 22.8 g으로 ‘화성벼’보다 약 간 더 무겁다. 도정특성은 ‘화성벼’보다 약간 좋은 편이고 쌀 알 모양이 아주 둥근 단원형이며 맑고 투명하며 밥맛은 ‘화성 벼’보다 우수하다. 불시출수는 안되는 편이고, 위조현상에 강 하고 성숙기 엽노화가 느린 편이며 내냉성은 ‘화성벼’와 같은 수준이다. 잎도열병 밭못자리 검정 결과 중도저항성을 보였고 줄무늬잎마름병과 흰잎마름병(K1, K2, K3)에는 강하나 오갈 병 및 검은줄오갈병에 약하고 벼멸구 등 충해에는 감수성이 다. 쌀수량성은 ‘09~’11년 3개년간 실시한 지역적응시험 보 통기 보비재배 7개소에서 5.93 MT/ha로 ‘화성벼’보다 11% 증수되었으며, 이모작재배에서는 5.23 MT/ha로 ‘화성벼’ 대 비 14%, 만식재배에서는 4.63 MT/ha로 ‘화성벼’ 대비 21% 증수하여 이모작 및 만식적응성이 높았다.
