  • ‘Hwaweon 7’ was developed from a cross between the African upland cultivar, ‘Moroberekan’ and ‘Ilpumbyeo’ based on marker-aided backcross selection. The recurrent parent, Ilpumbyeo is a high grain quality cultivar with medium to late maturity. Hwaweon 7 is nearly isogenic to Ilpumbyeo except a small Moroberekan introgressed segment on chromosome 6 harboring genes related with spikelets per panicle and internode diameter. The preliminary and replicated yield trial was conducted at Chungnam National University and Chungcheongnamdo Agricultural Research & Extension (CARES), Yesan in 2010 and 2011. The local adaptability test was carried out by the National Seed Management Office (NSMO) in 2012 and 2013. This cultivar was registered to NSMO with a cultivar designated as “Hwaweon7”. This cultivar averaged 80cm in culm length and has a medium growth duration. Milled rice of “Hwaweon7” is translucent and the grain quality traits are comparable to those of the recurrent parent. The average yield potential of Hwaweon 7 in grain was about 6.48 MT/ha at the ordinary fertilizer level for two years about 5.1% higher than that of Ilpumbyeo due to increase in spikelets per panicle. This variety is tolerant to lodging and the tolerance is due to the APO1 gene controlling the base internode diameter on chromosome 6 introgressed from the donor parent, Moroberekan. The Apo1 gene would be useful in enhancing resistance to lodging in rice breeding program.

아프리카 육도인 모로베레칸은 다양한 유전변이를 보유하고 있을 뿐 아니라, 도열병저항성, 내한발성 등 중요한 농업적 형질 을 보유하고 있기 때문에 도열병 판별품종이나 주요 교배모본으 로 이용되고 있다(Wang et al. 1994, Dixit et al. 2014). 국내에서 도 모로베레칸과 국내 자포니카 품종간 교잡 후대를 육성하고 도열병 저항성유전자, 내한발성, 간기경, 출수기 등 형질에 대한 유전 분석을 시도하였으며, 도열병저항성 주동유전자와 양적유 전자가 집적된 도열병 저항성 중간모본을 육성하였다(Kim et al. 2013). 그러나 모로베레칸이 보유하고 있는 내한발성, 내도복 성, 수량구성요소 등 형질에 대한 유전분석은 별로 없는 실정이다 (Kim et al. 2012, 2014, Dixit et al. 2014).
수당립수는 종자중과 함께 벼 수량 구성요소인데, 지금까지 수당립수에 관여하는 몇몇 유전자(Gn1a, APO1, OsSPL14)가 분리되고 그 기능이 분석되었다(Ashikari et al. 2005, Miura et al. 2010, Ikeda et al. 2007). 이 중, APO1 유전자는 수당립수를 조절하는 동시에 간기경을 굵게 하여 도복저항성을 증가시킨다 고 보고하였다 (Ookawa et al. 2010). 이러한 관점에서 도복내성 과 수당립수를 조절하는 기능을 가진 APO1 유전자의 대립유전 자를 검정하고 품종 육성에 이용하는 연구가 요구된다. 본 연구진 은 일품벼를 반복친, 모로베레칸을 수여친으로 이용하여 도열병 저항성, 수량구성요소, 출수기, 도복내성 등에 관여하는 양적형 질 유전자를 분석하고 이들 유전자들을 일품벼에 이전한 일품벼 근동질계통들을 육성하는 연구를 수행하고 있다. 본 연구는 일품 벼과 모로베레칸 조합에서 유래한 이입계통 중에서 출수기 등 주요 농업적 특성은 일품벼와 유사하며 종자중, 수당립수와 내도 복성이 증가한 중간모본 신품종 “화원7호”를 개발하였기에 육성 경위와 주요 특성을 보고하고자 한다.
본 시험은 화원7호와 일품벼를 공시하여 2010, 2011년 2년간 충남대학교와 예산 충남 농업기술원 포장에서 실시하였다. 재배 방법은 4월 30일 파종하여 30일간 육묘한 후 5월 30일에 30 × 15cm의 재식거리로 주당 1-3본씩 이앙하고, 시비량은 N-P2O5-K2O = 9-4.5-5.7 kg/10a로 재배하였다. 시험구 배치는 완전임의배치법 3반복으로 하였다. 미질 특성은 종자 수확 후 종자 수분함량이 15%가 될 때까지 건조한 후에 도정하였다. 백미기(Toyo, Japan)를 이용하여 현미 시료를 현백율 92%로 조정하여 백미를 만든 후에 시료를 15°C의 냉장고에 보관하였다. 완전미비율, 정현비율, 아밀로스함량, ADV 등의 미질 특성 조 사, 기타 재배관리와 주요 농업적 특성, 수량 특성, 병해충 저항성 조사는 농촌진흥청 신품종개발 공동연구사업 조사 기준에 준하 여 실시하였다.
육성경위
‘화원7호’의 육성경위를 Fig. 1에 제시하였다. 양질인 일품벼를 반복친으로, 출수가 늦고 소얼성이며 도복에 강한 Moroberekan 을 1회친으로 사용하였다. 일품벼/Moroberekan 조합에서 교배 립을 확보하고 F1 식물체에 일품벼를 교배하여 10개의 BC1F1 종자를 확보하였다. 다시 일품벼와 여교배하여 22개의 BC2F1 식물체를 확보하였고 2,000여개의 BC3F1종자를 확보하였다. 이들 2,000여개의 식물체 중에서 1,105개의 BC3F1 식물체를 선발하였고 일품벼와 유사한 표현형을 보이는 279개의 개체를 추가적으로 선발하고 자식시켜 BC3F2 계통을 육성하였다.

279 BC3F2 계통의 유전자형을 분자표지를 이용하여 검정하고, 포장에서 특성 검정을 실시한 결과 출수기, 간장 등 주요 농업적인 형질에서 ‘일품벼’와 유사한 117 BC3F3 계통을 선발하였다(Ju et al. 2009). 이들 계통 중에서 내도복성과 수당립수가 증가한 10계통을 선발하여 2005-2007 3년간에 걸쳐 수당립수에 관여하 는 유전자분석과 특성검정을 실시하였다. 10계통 중 주요 농업형 질이 일품벼와 유사하고 목표형질인 수당립수가 증가된 계통, IL28을 목표유전자의 확인을 위한 기본 계통으로 선발하였다. 이는 IL28이 모로베레칸의 유전자가 이입된 목표부위(target region)를 가지며 (6번 염색체에서 마이크로새터라이트 마커 RM3430와 RM3307로 확인) 증가된 수당립수를 보였기 때문이 다. 또한 이 염색체 부위에 위치하는 Moroberekan 대립유전자는 절간의 굵기를 증가시켜 도복저항성을 증가시키는 효과를 보였으 며, 목표부위를 제외하고는 비교적 적은 1개의 비목표(non-target) 모로베레칸 유전자단편을 4번 염색체에 가졌기 때문이다.
선발된 계통을 2010년과 2011년에 충남대학교 및 예산 충남 농업기술원 (CARES: Chungcheongnamdo Agricultural Research & Extension) 포장에서 생산력검정을 실시한 결과 품종보호원 출원 조건에 부합하여 “화원7호”로 명명하고 품종보호원을 출원 하였다. 마이크로새터라이트 마커를 이용하여 화원7호에 이입 된 Moroberekan의 염색체단편을 검정한 결과, 2개의 염색체 단편이 탐지되었는데, 이들은 각각 4번 및 6번 염색체의 마이크 로새터라이트 마커 RM551, 그리고 RM7269-RM461 부근에 위치한 지역이였다(Fig. 2).

출수기와 주요 농업적 특성
화원7호의 출수기는 보통기 보비재배에서 평균 8월 15일로 ‘일품벼’보다 4일 정도 빠른 중만생종이며, 간장은 80cm로 ‘일 품벼’와 유사하였다. ‘화원7호’의 이삭길이는 25cm로 ‘일품벼’ 에 비해 길었으며, 주당수수, 임실율은 일품벼와 유사하였다 (Table 1). 그러나 화원7호의 수당립수, 현미 1,000립중은 일품 벼보다 증가하였으며 두 품종간 유의한 차이를 보였다(Fig. 3). 특히 화원7호는 간기경이 일품벼에 비해 두꺼웠으며 이로 인해 계통과 생산력검정 포장에서 일품벼에 비해 도복 내성이 증가하 였다(자료 미제시). 이는 일품벼로 이입된 모로베레칸의 APO1 대립유전자에 의한 영향으로 판단되며 추가적인 검정이 요구된 다(Kim et al. 2014). Ookawa et al. (2010)도 인디카 Habataki의 APO1 유전자가 간기경의 증가와 도복 내성의 증가에 관여함을 보고하고 있다.

병해충저항성
화원7호는 도열병, 흰잎마름병, 줄무늬잎마름병, 오갈병과 검은줄오갈병에는 약하였고, 벼멸구 등 충해에도 약하였다 (Table 2).

도정 및 미질 특성
화원7호는 쌀 심복백이 일품벼에 비해 약간 높고, 완전미율은 낮은 편이다(Table 3). 아밀로스 함량과 알칼리 붕괴도도 일품벼 와 유사한 값을 보였다(Table 3).

수량성
화원7호의 수량성은 ’10～’11년 2개년간 실시한 생산력검정 시험 결과 대전의 포장에서는 6.20MT/ha로 일품벼와 유사하였 으며, 충남농업기술원포장에서는 6.48MT/ha로 일품벼보다 약 4% 증수를 보였으나 유의적 차이는 없었다(Table 4).

일품벼의 주요 농업적 특성에 모로베레칸의 수당립수와 내도 복성을 조절하는 유전자가 이입된 근동질계통을 육성하기 위해 일품벼와 모로베레칸을 교배하고, 계속적인 여교배와 MAS를 병행 실시하여 유망한 계통 CR28-30-2 계통을 선발하였다. 생산 력검정 시험 결과 조사된 형질 중 수당립수와 간기경 등을 제외한 기타 형질에서는 일품벼와 유사한 근동질계통으로, 품종보호 출원 조건에 부합하여 화원7호로 명명하고 품종보호원을 출원하 였다.

  • 1. 화원7호는 출수기가 보통기재배에서 8월 15일로 일품벼보 다 4일 정도 빠른 중만생종 품종이다.

  • 2. 천립중은 23.8g으로 일품벼보다 무거웠으나 통계적인 유의 한 차이는 없었다.

  • 3. 흰잎마름병과 줄무늬잎마름병에는 이병성이다.

  • 4. 완전미율은 일품벼에 비해 약간 낮았고, 아밀로스 함량은 일품벼보다 높았으나 통계적인 차이는 없었다.

  • 5. 화원7호의 정조수량은 ’10-’11년 2개년간 실시한 생산력검 정 시험에서 평균 6.20 MT/ha 로 일품벼와 유사하였으나, 예산에서는 6.48 MT/ha로 일품벼 대비 104% 수준이었다.

  • 6. 화원7호는 일품벼에 비해 수당립수가 많았다 그리고 간기 경이 두꺼운 특성을 보였는데 이는 모로베레칸의 APO1 유전자의 영향으로 판단된다.
